Chasing a Dream

What began as a hobby turned into a passion with an insatiable desire to learn everything I could about the craft of upholstering.

After several years of painstakingly figuring out how to upholster through trial and error, and often how NOT to upholster, I was fortunate enough to land an apprenticeship for almost 2 years with a master upholsterer and furniture maker.

I was taught traditional techniques that had to meet their high standards, and had instilled in me a keen sense of color, texture, and symmetry.

About the Name …

Tinker’s Hatch is the name of a lovely medieval home in Warwick, England, built in the 1600s. It is purely coincidental that the name is the same as mine. My mom, Adele, lived in that home, and it was always such a fond memory for her.

This is an homage to my mom, whom I credit with passing on to me her taste for all things beautiful, most notably her love of fabric, and her ability to take something seemingly forgettable and turn it into the focal point of any room.
